Responsive and reliable: Project management, reviews and investigations.
I I have worked as an independent consultant since 2015, and at a senior level in social care for much longer. I support organisations by managing operational and strategic projects; reviewing services, policies or governance arrangements; and undertaking investigations. I am also developing a project methodology around dignity and engagement.
My experience is pretty wide ranging, with a lot of very operational stuff as well as policy. Having successfully managed a number of national projects, and written several policy and guidance documents on different aspects of adult social care, I am well regarded and increasingly well known around the sector. I have the support on an associate basis of a small number of long standing and trusted colleagues, giving increased capacity, flexibility and breadth.
Previous clients have said:
"Peter was focused, organised and thorough, and delivered quality output within agreed timescales."
"Peter's knowledge, skills and experience, and his ability to act as a critical friend, have earnt him respect across our organisation."
"Peter’s excellent people skills meant that staff at all levels were quickly on board and welcomed the positive challenge Peter brought."
I would be delighted to arrange to meet you for an initial informal discussion. Do get in touch!
Programme management for the Care Provider Alliance The Care Provider Alliance (CPA) brings together all the main representative bodies for voluntary and independent adult social care providers, working to represent the sector and ensure a coordinated response to the major issues that affect it. I am supporting the CPA as Programme Manager for a range of projects including contingency planning, engagement with STPs, and data and cyber security. I have written a number of publications for the CPA, including national guidance on contingency planning and a guide to new ways of working in adult social care services.
Setting up and chairing an internal safeguarding committee Having previously led a programme of work to review and update arrangements for safeguarding at Friends of the Elderly, a brilliant national charity which supports older people, I now chair an internal safeguarding committee set up as part of the review. The committee provides assurance for the charity's trustees in relation to safeguarding, and it helps ensure that the charity's safeguarding policy and practice are kept up to date. You can read more about the committee here.
Reviews and investigations Over recent months I have undertaken short reviews of governance and quality assurance arrangements for one local and one national provider. I have also completed investigations in to whistle blowing, disciplinary and grievance issues.
Helping care services develop quality and responsiveness We have now completed two projects helping care homes for older people to increase quality and responsiveness through structured engagement with the people they support, with relatives and with staff. The same methodology could also support services in people's home, and services for other groups. Read about how a Dignity and Engagement project could work for your organisation.
