Case Study 1
Managing a Safeguarding Review Programme for a national charity
A comprehensive safeguarding review programme was designed and managed for a national charity which provides services for older people. The programme included consultation with people supported by the charity, and with relatives, staff, volunteers and managers at all levels; visits to services; the redrafting of key policies and procedures; a detailed report for the charity’s trustees; and project management of the implementation of the report’s recommendations.
This project has received national recognition as an example of good practice, and it helped the charity to improve the CQC rating of one of its residential services from Inadequate to Good in eight months.
Case Study 2
Reviewing business continuity for a major regional provider
This organisation, which provides residential and community services and has an £80m turnover, needed additional resource to update its arrangements for business continuity. A practical and participative approach was taken, visiting services to identify key issues and risks, then meeting with senior managers to feedback and agree future priorities.
Following the review, policies and plans were rewritten, management systems were developed and training workshops were delivered to help managers implement the new arrangements.
The organisation now has a comprehensive management system designed to assure the continuity of services.
We have established methodologies to investigate complaints, safeguarding concerns, or grievances, and we can provide support following a poor inspection from CQC. We advise on improvement plans and we support their implementation. We always look beyond the immediate problem to identify any wider organisational learning.
